Ivyland, PA – American Governor Company (AGC) was chosen to provide governor re-retrofits for the units in service at the Lock 4 Hydroelectric Generating Station. The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) owns and operates this hydro plant located at the base of Lock 4 on the Welland Canal, in St. Catharines, Ontario.
The Lock 4 Powerhouse contains two (2) horizontal Francis turbines that drive 5MW Generators. The machines were originally furnished with Woodward Gateshaft Governors, that had been converted to high pressure and PLC controllers in 2002.
