Massachusetts Water Resource Authority – Oakdale Hydro Plant Upgrade

Ivyland, PA – American Governor Company (AGC) will continue to support the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA) at their Oakdale Hydro Plant. The 1929 Oakdale plant is located near West Boylston, Massachusetts and was originally used to transfer water from the Ware River into Wachusett Reservoir. Hydropower was added in 1949 with a single 4MW vertical Francis unit, controlled by a Woodward Gateshaft governor.

AGC’s contract includes an AGC Digital upgrade, PMG shop conversion/overhaul, and estimated startup services. The project will be designed in 2019 for a 2020 low-water outage and, during the Oakdale startup, we will also inspect the AGC Digital governors at Cosgrove Tunnel. The two Cosgrove units have operated flawlessly since they were commissioned in 2013.
