Ivyland, PA – American Governor Company (AGC) has been awarded a contract by New Zealand’s Mighty River Power to supply equipment and site services to upgrade the existing mechanical and analog governors at the Atiamuri and Maraetai 2 Power Stations. Both stations are located on the on the Waikato River of the north island. Atiamuri Power Station is the third of eight hydroelectric stations on the Waikato and has an installed capacity of 84MW. Maraetai 2 is the fifth of the eight hydroelectric power stations on the river, and at 360 MW, is the largest hydroelectric station on the Waikato.
AGC will replace the existing English Electric mechanical and ASEA analog governors and will provide a modern, high-pressure Hydraulic Power System of standardized design, eliminate all old-tech components from each system, improve governor performance, and enhance remote control capabilities at each station.
