Ivyland, PA – American Governor Company (AGC) has been awarded a contract by Alabama Power to provide twelve digital governor systems for plants with output ranging from 18 to 47 MW. The plants are currently fitted with Francis units and Woodward Governor Mechanical Cabinet Actuator governors. As part of the project, AGC will replace all existing governor equipment with Programmable Automation Controllers in a custom-engineered package to ensure commonality across all power plants for a solution that will seamlessly integrate with existing Controllers and Operator Control Equipment. The five plant project began in 2012 and is expected to be completed in 2013.
