Ivyland, PA – American Governor Company (AGC) has been awarded a contract by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to provide digital governor equipment, engineering, spare parts, and field services to modernize seven (7) Pelton Mechanical Cabinet Actuators at Oahe Dam in its Omaha District, which operates and maintains hydro plants on the Missouri River from Montana to Oklahoma. These units will be converted to full digital control.
Equipment is expected to be on-site beginning in the summer of 2018, with installation commencing in fall 2018 and spring 2019.
USACE’s Governor Conversion Program
For the last ten years, the USACE has favored American Governor with the vast majority of its digital governor conversion projects, reflecting the high degree of confidence they have in our project management, engineering, production, quality control, and field service capabilities. The fact that AGC also provides on-going technical and maintenance support for the auxiliary systems that are usually retained (e.g. Oil Pumps, Distributing Valves, PMGs, and SSGs) is cited as an important factor in choosing a full-service governor supplier rather than an automation company. AGC’s continuing support for all types, styles, models and vintages of legacy hydro governors enables USACE to decide when – or if – to convert to digital. When USACE decides to convert some of their larger powerhouses to digital, these are some of the reasons why:
Thanks to the dedication and hard work of its personnel, AGC continues to maintain a high bar in the hydro governor market. AGC provides the highest quality products, best field service, and most responsive technical support available anywhere in the world. The USACE understands and appreciates this, rewarding AGC with further task order awards and projects.
