Ivyland, PA – American Governor Company (AGC) has been chosen to provide two (2) governor upgrades at the Smooth Rock Falls (SRF) Generating Facility. AGC has a long history supporting this station with both Tembec and now Gemini Power. Unfortunately, the Tembec paper mill was closed in 2006, but the powerhouse was sold to Gemini SFR Power in 2011. Plans were announced in early 2015 to refurbish the plant and AGC began working with the KGS Group, the owner’s consulting engineer.
The town of Smooth Rock Falls is in Northeastern Ontario, on the Mattagami River and is about 65KM to the west of Kapuskasing. The SRF Generating Facility consists of two 3.4MW Francis units that were controlled by 1967 vintage Woodward GS-Actuators.
We are excited for the opportunity to continue our support and customer service for these units, and equally excited to be working “with one of Canada’s fastest growing consulting firms.” Installation is scheduled for late summer 2017.
